MONDAY - FRIDAY / 9AM - 3PM
44 Vivian St. New Plymouth
Te Whare Hononga is open Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm. If you wish to visit outside these hours, please contact us and we’ll try to accommodate your request. As private events are held regularly, we recommend checking with us ahead of time to confirm availability and avoid disappointment.
No formal welcome needed, walk right into Te Whare Hononga, watch the videos, explore the touchscreens & take photos. Enhance your visit by using your phone to scan QR codes placed throughout the Cathedral site to learn more about our story.

If you have visited the gravesites, then you may want to use the water to transition from tapu to noa, from conflict to peace. There are wai whakanoa posts outside Te Whare Hononga and around the entire site.
There is no requirement to remove your shoes before entering Te Whare Hononga. However, we do ask school groups to leave their shoes outside.
Take a moment as you enter Te Whare Hononga to acknowledge the kaupapa of peace and reconciliation. Use this as an opportunity to recite a karakia or practice a mihi whakatau.
Although it is acceptable to bring small amounts of food and water into Te Whare, we ask that meals be taken outside. There are designated wāhi noa (places to eat) outside, but do not eat on or near the graves.
