education experience
Teachers are encouraged to use Te Whare Hononga as a resource to enhance the NZ History Curriculum. Use the space as an extended classroom, bring your class on a free self-guided visit or book a Class Experience with one of our guides.
CLASS EXPERIENCE
The experience starts with a guided tour of the Cathedral precinct and Pūkākā summit, with the option to walk along the Huatoki River, before arriving at Te Whare Hononga for age-appropriate kōrero, activities, an animated video, and time for Q&A. The experience covers an overview of the history of Pūkākā Pā, early settlers, Te Tiriti, and the Land Wars, highlighting the voices who have long called for peace. Your class is welcome to spend more time after the tour looking through the interactive touchscreens at Te Whare Hononga.
Our goal is to support the individual needs of each class. Let us know any specific learning outcomes you, as a teacher, hope to achieve so we can tailor your time with us to an engaging experience.
